Banh Dapmeans cracked or smashed rice pancake. Incorporating yin and yang principles, it combines two kinds of rice. paper sheets. A thin wet sheet sandwiched between two dry brittle ones. To eat, one smashes the ‘sandwich’ creation into small pieces which are then dipped into mam cai, a special fermented salted fish paste.

The village, named after a sweet-flavored herb cultivated in this area, is located north east of Hoi An old town. Centuries ago, it was an important stopping point for boats sailing down the De Vong river from/to Da Nang. Kim Bong carpentry village has its own carpenter community. Since a few centuries ago, Vietnamese people here have carved sculptures from wood and built fishing boats. Today, besides producing souvenirs and household stuff, local artisans also assist in renovating wooden heritages in the world heritage town. With the reputation of Kim Bong carpentry, there were many carpenters organized by the King of the Nguyen dynasty in order to build Hue capital.
The pottery village was famous when Hoi An became the flourished sea port in 16th -17th centuries. The product of pottery from this village was sold to many provinces through central Vietnam. The bricks, tiles and floor slabs produced in this famous village were provided to build the old houses and build the spirit constructions in Hoi An old town.
One of the most stunning sights to see in the Hoi An area is My Son Santuary, Viet Nam's most important site of the ancient kingdom of Champa. Between the 4th and 13th centuries, a unique culture that owed its spiritual origins to Indian Hinduism developed on the coast of contemporary Viet Nam. At one time, the site encompassed over 70 temples as well as numerous stele bearing historically important inscriptions in Sanskrit and Cham.
